me in the center..

In this particular moment, I am seeing how easy it is to be consumed with 'self' and not be concerned with others and how things affect them!

Being selfish makes you seem childish and ignorant, as well as uneducated and un-Christ-like! And by "you" I of course am referring to me.

I would LOVE to go on vacation with my family during the week after Christmas, but Jaymes cannot get off work :(. I've begged and pleaded and come up with [EXCELLENT - if I do say so myself :)] reasons as to why I'm right about him asking off, and why he's wrong about not asking off..but looking back at the drama that I created for myself, I see that all those reasons only go in my favor, not his, and that they do not benefit him. I mean, obviously a break from work and school and an out of town trip to celebrate Christ's birth are favorable things to anyone, but there is more to it. I mean, I'm not being entirely selfish in a bad way, I want Jaymes to be able to be on vacation with me and be able to hang out outside of the normal schedule of our life, but I am still failing to see the entirety of the situation.

I pray that I will think before I speak, and evaluate how things effect not only me, but those around me.
That I will see the big picture (as much of it as I can :)) and realize that I am not the only one out there!

The holidays are often a time that people are selfish, think only of themselves, and with gifts being a prime focus, it is so easy to be selfish! But James 4: 1-5, 6 has this to say:

James 4:1-5, 6 (ESV)
"What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God...God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble."

I realize that this passage may be a bit extreme to the selfishness that I am referring to, but selfishness is ultimately the underlying killer in our world, coming one way or another. All in all, selfishness is immoral, and shouldn't be allowed governance over your mindset!
